Kannberg Media is a publishing company that is owned by Spokane residents, Robert & Tere Kannberg.
Robert Kannberg, a Spokane native, graduated from Rogers High School in 1961 and WSU in 1965.
Kannberg moved to Kirkland Washington in 1977 and has been in the print publishing business since
1978, and in the electronic (internet) publishing business since 1994. Over the past 28 years,
Kannberg has published over 235 annual specialty directories for the Commercial Marine/Fishing
industry (The Marine Yellow Pages 25th Year, Gulf States Marine Directory, New England Commerical
Marine Directory, The Boaters Yellow Pages, South Florida Yachting Directory, The Horseman's Yellow
Pages, Contractors & Suppliers Directories and numerous traditional telephone print directories.
Kannberg also published a number of local telephone directories prior to selling them to Phone
Directories Co. in Provo, Utah. Kannbergs have also published many specialty monthly and quarterly
magazines and newspapers: Retailers Northwest, Alaska Fisheries Digest, HorsesWest Newspaper,
Colorado Horse News, Horseman's Update, Steppin' Out-Sun Valley and Sonoma County, Out 'n About in
the High Desert, Contractors & Suppliers Update, as well as other specialty directory projects.
Kannberg has sold all of their specialty directories except for the Horseman's Yellow Pages and the
Senior Pages prior to moving back home to Spokane in August 2005.
Robert D. Kannberg was a consultant for NYNEX Information Resources (now Verizon) for 4 years with responsibility for the
development of specialty NYNEX Boaters Directories in the Northwest and in Northern California.
Kannberg had published the official Boat Show Programs for the Seattle Boat Shows for seven
consecutive years. In 1994, Kannberg and OWT set up their first websites for the Commercial Marine,
Boating & Yachting and Horse industries. The National Horseman's Directory, with over 1 million
hits per month, has 25,000 horse businesses listed, and is one of the busiest horse sites on the
internet. The www.SeniorPages.com website is the online companion site to the print directories for
Pierce/South King Counties and the Spokane edition. Kannberg, with its web partner, One World
Telecommunications in Kennewick Washington, developed over 500 websites. Late last year, Kannberg
purchased the very popular print Mobile Pages. The Mobile Pages has been published for the last
five consecutive years for Spokane cellular users. With the combined expertise in print and
electronic publishing, Kannberg and Don Short of One World Telecommunications, will expand the
Spokane Mobile Pages online database, SpokaneYellow.com and the WAP Cell phone accessibility
feature . Online at SpokaneYellow.com, Kannberg will provide Business Profiles that will inform
visitors about local businesses listed in the online database.
